Balaton Adventures
Visit to Tihany and Lake Balaton
We offer an exceptional journey to Lake Balaton where you can get acquainted with local research and water quality monitoring programs, take a walk through magnificent natural landscapes with breathtaking views of the lake, submerge in the exhibition of Hungarian ceramics and other handicrafts, visit the famous Tihany Abbey or just swim and roast in the beach of the research institute. The trip is organised with private bus pickup and drop off.
Time schedule
- 8:00 Departure from Budapest – pickup at congress venue at 8:00 am
- 10:00 arrival in Tihany, at the HUN-REN Balaton Limnological Research Institute (BLRI). Presentation of the institute and its research by hosts.
- 12.00 Lunch break
- 12:30 Free, optional programs:
- Program A: a scenic walk with an expert guide to the national park areas, getting to know the protected natural geological treasures and rare plants and animals of Tihany, approx. 6-8 km walk,
- Program B: independent tourism: walk in Tihany (Abbey, village, Shaveling flats)
- Program C: lazy vacationer: beaching, sunbathing, rest in the institute's park
- 17:00 Return to Budapest
Minimum number of participants: 15 persons
Maximum number of participants: 45 persons
The places will be filled up in the order of requests.
Not included in the registration fee! Price: 120 EUR / person
The fee includes:
- transfer to and from lake Balaton
