For a greener journey, we recommend arriving
By train
Budapest is well connected to Europe's rail network, with direct trains from 13 capitals and 47 international services arriving daily. Comfortable trains, many with dining and sleeping cars, mostly arrive at the historic Keleti Railway Station, a beautiful starting point for your adventure.
By bus
Several international bus companies offer regular routes between Budapest and neighboring countries, as well as other European cities. Most buses stop at Népliget, Etele Square, or Mexikói Road, all easily accessible by metro lines M1, M3, or M4.
By boat
Experience Budapest from the water! The Danube offers boat connections from June to September, including hydrofoil services to Vienna and Bratislava. Most boats dock right in the heart of the city, providing stunning views of the skyline.
For longer distances or group travel, consider arriving
By plane
Thanks to its central location, Budapest is only a 2-3 hour flight from most European cities. Liszt Ferenc International Airport, 20 km from the city center, serves major and low-cost airlines alike. For up-to-date information, visit the airport's official website.
The airport is well-connected to the city by bus, car, and taxi. The use of this specific bus 100E is not included in the Budapest Card Pass. More details can be found on the BKK website.
